Bar Stool Protective Bases
CIRCULAR BASES, SQUARE BASES AND STOOLS WITH LEGS
All Atlantic Shopping bar stools come with protection for your floor. Ones with round domed bases have a hidden 10mm plastic/rubberised protector, which encircles the base ensuring the metal never comes into contact with your floor. Those with square bases or flat round bases have protection pads on the under side of the base so as to look after your floor. These pads can either made from felt, foam or rubber.
It is important to remember, that once a bar stool is in position it is rarely moved because most of them have a 360 swivel mechanism and you tend to swivel the seat, whilst getting on, rather than moving the actual stools into position. If you are planning on moving the stools we always suggest trying to lift the stool slightly as opposed to dragging the stool as repeated dragging of any item could cause scratches.
With circular domed styled bases, the quality of protection increases with the overall price of the stool. Less expensive stools have more plasticized protectors. As the price of the stool increases so does the rubber content and hence becomes softer providing more protection to your floor, as seen in the Lush Bar Stool. This can be an important factor when your bar or kitchen floor is of a more delicate nature such as wooden floors and travertine marble floors.
Bar Stools with flat bases, such as the Encore Bar Stool, have a high quality level of protection as these stools are more expensive and come with very good protection. Also if your floor is particularly delicate and you wish to add further protection to the base then it is very easy to stick flat pads to the underside.
More traditional bar stools with legs all come with rubber bungs inserted into their ends. However some wooden stools just come with bare wooden leg tips. Due to the natural nature of wood these cause no problems with the majority of floors. For more fragile types of flooring extra protection can easily be added by using felt pads on the leg ends.
Particular care should be taken whilst applying rubber against Karndean flooring as the rubber can react forming darkened areas where it comes into contact. If you do have a Karndean floor and wish to have further advice please feel free to call us on 0121 230 1644 and we will talk you through the stools and which are more suited to your floor.
Many Thanks
