From popular daytime programmes to major sporting events, Atlantic Shopping furniture has made some memorable appearances on British television over the years. Our bar stools and chairs have found their way into television studios, reality shows, soap opera kitchens and even Olympic coverage. Join us as we look back at some of the occasions when our furniture took its place in front of the cameras.
Over the years, our furniture has been selected for a wide variety of television settings, from busy studios to carefully styled interiors. Each appearance offers a glimpse of how different designs can work beyond the home, whether providing seating for presenters and guests or becoming part of a memorable set.
Familiar Faces on Daytime Television
Some of our earliest television appearances brought Atlantic Shopping furniture into the heart of Britain's daytime viewing. On ITV's Loose Women, our Starz Brushed Real Leather Stool Cream was chosen as part of a studio makeover. Its cream leather upholstery and brushed steel frame provided a contemporary addition to the panel's seating.
Our furniture also appeared on Good Morning Britain, where the Nero Brushed Stool White was used during guest interviews, including an outdoor segment overlooking London's Southbank. The stool's white faux leather seat and brushed steel frame complemented the clean, modern studio styling.
Other appearances included the Lush Brushed Steel Bar Stool Cream on Daybreak, pictured during an interview with Miley Cyrus, and the Rochelle Brushed Steel Stool White on Lorraine, where it featured in fashion and style segments.
A Place in The Great British Bake Off
One particularly memorable appearance came during The Great British Bake Off, where our Cube Bar Stool White was used by contestants during the competition. Its compact, backless design offered a practical seating option within the familiar baking environment.
With a padded white seat and understated styling, the Cube was a simple addition to a set filled with colour, activity and anticipation. It was an exciting moment for us to see one of our designs featured in such a recognisable British programme.
From Celebrity Juice to Dinner Date
Our furniture has also appeared in some of television's more light-hearted moments. On ITV2's Celebrity Juice, Holly Willoughby and Fearne Cotton were pictured using our colourful Bucketeer Chairs during one of the show's games. Their distinctive rounded seats and chrome pedestal frames made them a natural fit for the playful studio setting.
Meanwhile, Dinner Date offered a more domestic setting for our Candy Chairs. Featured in a contestant's kitchen, the colourful chairs demonstrated how mixing different shades of the same design can create a lively dining area.
Our Aero Bar Stool Black also appeared on The Alan Titchmarsh Show, while the Replica Tolix Stool Grey featured in Channel 4's Health Freaks. From colourful seating to minimalist metal designs, each programme called for something a little different.
Taking a Seat on Britain's Favourite Quiz Shows
Television quiz shows have provided some particularly memorable settings for our bar stools. On Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?, the Monza Bar Stool Black was used as seating for contestants and presenter Chris Tarrant, including during celebrity editions of the programme.
With its padded black seat and distinctive silhouette, the Monza suited the dramatic studio environment, where every question brought another moment of suspense.
Elsewhere, our Pluto Bar Stool Black appeared on The Chase, providing seating for contestants as they followed the progress of their teammates. The Orlando Bar Stool was also selected for the BBC quiz show Perfection, where its wraparound backrest and chrome pedestal frame formed part of the contestant seating.
Inside the Big Brother House
Known for its imaginative interiors, the Big Brother house has featured several Atlantic Shopping designs over the years. During the 2012 series, our Quantum Bar Stool Cream appeared in the kitchen, while the distinctive Ball Stool brought a playful retro element to the house.
Our furniture also appeared in Celebrity Big Brother, including the Mercer Chair during the 2013 series. Upholstered in white faux leather with decorative quilted stitching, the chair was used as part of a task involving the celebrity housemates.
With each series bringing a completely different interior scheme, these appearances showed how furniture could contribute to the character of a television set.
Atlantic Shopping at the London 2012 Olympics
One of the standout moments in our television history came during the London 2012 Olympic Games. As the world's attention turned to London, Atlantic Shopping furniture appeared in BBC coverage of the event.
Our Prism Bar Stool Cream, later known as the Diamond, was among the designs used for studio seating, while the Evelyn Chair appeared during trackside coverage. The latter provided seating for athletics personalities including Denise Lewis and Michael Johnson.
The Evelyn went on to make another sporting appearance during coverage of the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games. Looking back, these occasions remain a memorable part of our company's history.
David Beckham and the 2018 World Cup Bid
Our connection with major sporting events goes back even further. In 2009, the Lattice Bar Stool Cream was used during the televised launch of England's bid to host the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
The event brought together sporting personalities and public figures, with our stools providing seating for guests including David Beckham and Gordon Brown. Although the bid was ultimately unsuccessful, it remains one of the more unusual settings in which our furniture has appeared.
Furniture on the Set of EastEnders
It isn't just television studios that have featured our furniture. Our bar stools have also made appearances in the kitchens of EastEnders, becoming part of the everyday surroundings of some familiar characters.
The Gloss Coco Bar Stool White was featured in Jack Branning's kitchen, bringing a clean, contemporary look to the space. Our Drift Oak & Grey Bar Stool also appeared in Mel's kitchen, where its wooden frame and grey upholstery complemented the room's modern styling.
These appearances are a reminder that furniture plays an important role in making fictional homes feel believable. From the choice of materials to the overall silhouette, even smaller pieces can help establish the character of a room.
More Memorable Television Appearances
Beyond these highlights, Atlantic Shopping furniture has appeared in a variety of other programmes. Our Oracle Brushed Steel Stool Grey was spotted in a restaurant setting on Location, Location, Location, while the Clementine Chair Cream featured on the consumer affairs programme Watchdog.
Our Brushed Crescent Bar Stools also made an appearance in the home of a cast member from The Only Way Is Essex. Meanwhile, two Niagara Bar Stools were used during a final duet on the musical dating show Sing Date.
From lifestyle programmes and reality television to comedy, sport and drama, it's been fascinating to see the different settings in which our furniture has appeared.
A Look Back at Our Furniture on Screen
Looking back through these appearances, it's interesting to see how furniture styles have changed over the years. From polished chrome and brightly coloured seats to natural wood and understated upholstery, each design reflects the interiors and trends of its time.
Many of the original products have since been discontinued or updated, but their television appearances remain a memorable part of the Atlantic Shopping story. Whether chosen for a busy studio, a dramatic quiz show or a carefully styled kitchen, we're pleased to have seen our furniture play a part in so many different settings.
