Styles of Dining Tables

Dining tables come in a variety of different styles that suit every need imaginable, and we at Atlantic like to reflect that fact. From the small dining table designed for single bed flats and houses to large tables for families and functions, there are a myriad of sizes, combinations and materials to consider.

At the compact end of the spectrum, you have small circular and square dining tables that are ideal for small kitchens and dining rooms. The compact nature of these makes them perfect for two to four people, nestled in a corner or against a wall to economise on space. These tables can come in clear glass which helps to keep the feel roomy and airy, frosted glass which gives an interesting, modern look or wood, for that more traditional look. These smaller tables come with a variety of frames, often in chrome, that add style and presence to the table which transfers into the surrounding environment.

Square tables are ideal for an even number of seats; two facing chairs or four chairs, one on each side, keep the symmetry and balance perfectly. Bevelled edges can create more impact with a square table, almost framing it in a way. A circular table has the advantage of being able to sit any number of people, giving each the same amount of space. Round tables are reminiscent of cafés and bars, with circular poseur tables being close relatives, and that "chic" factor transferring over.

At the top end of the spectrum, you can get long tables designed for larger families or large dining rooms. You can get oblong, oval and rounded tables, in tabletops that come in glass, granite, marble, wood and a myriad of other choices. These tables have strong legs to take the added weight and are extremely durable and hard wearing. Oblong tables are great in executive environments or in contemporary settings, giving an officious or minimalist feel depending on the surrounding décor. Oval tables and those with rounded off edges tend to create a less formal feel and can be perfect for use around the home. For those with a large kitchen, one of these tables can be used as a breakfast table, put against a wall for use at the most important meal of the day.

A cross between the small and large tables; extending tables are an extremely utile item of furniture. Those people wishing to save space, perhaps only a small family with a few members, can have the convenience of a small table, but when they need more space for guests at festive times or parties, the table can extend out, as much a doubling the tabletop size and so accommodating up to twice as many people. And don't think that because it is a extending table it will be unfashionable; the days of extending tables that put function in front of fashion are now gone. New extending tables have ample amounts of both, and you can get wooden extending tables with glass inserts, giving a fusion of traditional and contemporary styling, fully glass extending table with the new age look that is so in-vogue at the moment, and traditional wooden extending tables, but beautifully styled to bring class and chic to any location it is placed in.

The final choice, though the road to get there may have been an arduous one, is one that will never leave you disappointed, as all the tables we sell are of the highest quality, excelling in both form and function.
