KITCHEN ISLAND STOOLS
Kitchen island stools are a dynamic breed of furniture that will enhance any area of the house; from bedroom to study, but are ideally suited to modern kitchens. As homes have changed over time, the kitchen has been growing in size and in importance, evolving from a simply utilitarian and functional area into a hub where people meet and socialise. As its purpose has changed, so the design has changed as well, and many contemporary styles now utilise a kitchen island as the centrepiece for visual impact as well as practicality with the use of stools.
A kitchen Island makes movement much more fluid and is perfect for entertaining guests, as the cooking area often faces the bar area making conversation a lot easier. It is also the location that children congregate to do their homework, and where you can sit and relax with a few drinks after a hard day's work, making it a very adaptable location.
Kitchen island stools come in a huge variety in order to meet every conceivable need, and have a whole host of features that help them to meet every occurrence. It is such a busy place with so many things happening at once, it is inevitable that there will be some spillages, with food or drink dropped onto the stools. Because of this it is essential that they are stain resistant and easy to clean, and all kitchen island stools can simply be wiped with a damp cloth, making maintenance very simple.
Real leather upholstery provides a luxury touch but thanks to its organic nature it is durable and resilient despite its soft, pliant nature. Faux leather is much the same but as it is synthetic, it is treated to withstand a number of harsh chemicals that would otherwise harm real leather. Another upside to faux leather is that it has colour added during the manufacturing process and so comes in a mind boggling array of shades, from traditional black and brown to striking orange and funky purple bar stools.
Also available in many resplendent tones are ABS bar stools, moulded from a single piece of high impact resin with a high gloss finish. It is a hard wearing, water repellent surface that that needs minimal maintenance, requiring only a light dusting on occasion. Acrylic Perspex is similarly robust and can have an opaque black or white finish, but acrylic bar stools are more commonly found with translucent bodies that provide immense visual impact despite keeping the overall look of the location free from visual clutter.
These modern styles are perfect for contemporary kitchens but some may have more traditional leanings such as a wooden worktop or door inserts. For such environments, classic wooden bar stools are the ideal counterparts and give a natural touch to any area. They come in several distinct alternatives, from funky Zebrano wood, which has a prominent contrast in the grain, alternating between light and dark, to natural solid oak and rich, characteristic walnut. There are even lacquered kitchen island stool with a satin finish, providing you with further choice.
