HIGH STOOLS
High stools can be defined as those stools which are taller than chair height; an elegant and stylish solution to kitchen islands, bar tables and high commercial bars. The seat height can range from 65cm in the kitchen through to 80cm in a typical pub or club.
To work successfully at taller heights, these stools employ a number of different features. The first batch is the fixed frame group, which have various styles that give superb visual impact. There are four legged bar stools which have steel and wooden frames, the wood available in a number of finishes. Oak, cognac, beech and walnut as well as black varnish show off the grain, providing a natural touch to any environment.
You can find cantilever style framework that is slender yet strong, switching backwards beneath the seat, Z-style stools that are chic yet compact and box frames that exhibit superb rigidity. They can be found in either mirror finish chrome plating or hand worked brushed stainless steel, all with integrated floor protectors beneath that make them perfect for all surfaces from carpet to woods and tile.
There is then the gas lift range, making up the majority of stools found on the marker. Gas lift stools come with a hydraulic gas cylinder that allows you to raise and lower the height of the seat, perfect for easy access to all those countertops that are odd heights and to cater for all occupants including the young and the elderly. Such items have wide, domed bases for stability or instead sport heavy flat bases. These are built around a cast iron core that lowers the centre of gravity, giving added security, whilst enforcing the feel of upmarket quality.
Whilst the framework on high stools is reinforced to cope with the added stresses involved, the seats are designed to remove stress and give a relaxing seating experience. High density foam padding can be found beneath faux leather and real leather upholstery for lush, padded cushions that come in traditional, retro and contemporary forms. These catch the eye and add character to any location, coming in a plethora of colours ranging from traditional black and white to funky green and orange, whilst there are also two-tone items for added class.
ABS resin is a beautiful alternative, hard wearing and easy to clean as well as stunning and modern, with ergonomic forms that hug your body usually in a high gloss finish. ABS is easily cleaned should anything be spilled on it and is light and compact. With comparable qualities, Acrylic Perspex is another moulded polymer, but instead of a glossy surface the seats are translucent for an airy look.
At the top end of the high stools range lie commercial stools, showcasing seat heights of around 80cm. The ideal accompaniment for taller surfaces that are about 100cm high, commercial height stools make the perfect pairing for poseur tables and commercial height counters, ideal for pubs and bars.
