COMMERCIAL BAR STOOLS

Commercial bar stools are the original bar stools, which were used in pubs and bars before they made their way into the domestic kitchen. As the kitchen has transformed into the hub of the home, the current trend is to have a congregational kitchen bar area. Due to their style and functionality, bar stools have become the in vogue, must have accessory.

Where as most standard kitchen counters are at 90cm and so ideal for bar stools, commercial bars tend to be a bit taller, with the average height being at around 110cm. Though once restricted to restaurants and bars, these taller counters are now finding their way into domestic settings with new kitchen designs. These utilise counters of various heights; sometimes having a raised section for sitting and eating, just to distinguish it from the rest of the kitchen counter and units. Commercial height stools are therefore slightly higher than the majority of their bar stool counterparts as they are designed to be used at the taller height of 100 – 120cm. A seat height of around 75cm is ideal for such a stool, and rarely exceeds 80cm to ensure that there is enough of a gap to comfortably accommodate your legs between the seat cushion and the underside of whatever table or counter you are sat at. This is also to ensure easy access to the seat and so the stool meets health and safety regulations.

Commercial height stools come in a variety of guises with a huge number of materials on offer, from wooden and metal frames to padded seats with backrests and those without. In fact, many of our commercial height stools are variants of our normal height bar stool designs; the Deluxe Casino bar stool, which is the original commercial grade stool available on Atlantic Shopping, is an upgraded version of the ever popular Vegas bar stool, with the same sumptuously padded seat and wide, supportive backrest but with an added 10cm to the height. We stock the z-style High Zed bar stool, which is a taller version of the chic fixed frame Zizi bar stool, whilst the High Cube bar stool is again a Cube bar stool but with a higher seat cushion.

Many of these designs, such as the Button bar stool, have a fixed height frame. This makes them a lot more rigid and sturdy due to the lack of a moving two-part gas lift mechanism, therefore ensuring they are stable at the heights required. This also makes four legs desirable, as a 4 legged frame such as that on the Cuboid bar stool is inherently more stable than a central stem and base. Those that do have a central base, however, often showcase heavy flat bases. These are made from a cast iron plate that keeps the weight and so the centre of gravity low, providing superb stability. The cast iron is then sheathed in brushed steel or chrome plated steel to complete the look.
