CAFE TABLES
Cafe tables are part of the overall design of any bar, bistro or cafe and provide much to the look, so it is essential to carefully consider the types of table on offer. The choice of tables available is immense and they range from bar tables through to coffee tables and we will deal with each type in turn.
Bar tables are the most commonly found and are very practical, being easy to move thus giving a highly adaptable layout to the environment. They are usually found at bar height of around 90cm, ideal for use with a fixed or variable height bar stools, but many designs are also available as poseur tables, with a 100cm tabletop height. These are perfect for standing at, making them ideal for temporary perches, or can alternately be equipped with high stools for a dynamic look and feel.
Toughened glass is the most popular tabletop material and comes in a range of finishes and with either a round or square top, with clear glass and black glass being the most commonly found. Smoked glass has a translucent grey finish, whilst sparkle glass has a crystalline finish that reflects light in all colours of the spectrum, giving a dazzling look that catches the eye. ABS resin is another colourful option, with moulded tops that are injected with dye, available in vibrant shades that add a dose of character. A high impact polymer, ABS is light yet robust, ideal for compact corners, or even as additional furniture that can be stowed away. Beautiful wooden tops come in natural finishes such as light oak and rich walnut or lacquered in satin black or white, while stone tops make up the other end of the organic materials, with classics such as Zimbabwe black granite and carrara white marble. These two stones, as well as a number of others, are also available on a range of sleek contemporary dining tables. These are the ideal accompaniment for dining chairs and low stools, giving stable surfaces on which to place your food and drink. Rectangular and round, there are tables that seat from four to eight and upwards, and extending designs that add even more functionality, allowing you to cater for more people.
For less busy locations, coffee tables are all you need, and help by keeping the visual impact low and leaving the space uncluttered. They are perfect when placed amidst funky chairs, nestled in the middle of these sculptural pieces of furniture.
Brushed steel framework gives a modern feel, hand worked into a muted surface that diffuses light and matches with modern appliances and fittings, or when used correctly can give an industrial look. Chrome plating is the more traditional method of frame finish, and gives a striking mirror polish that reflects its surroundings, blending in with any type of decor. It is durable and resistant to scratches, needing only an occasional dusting; ideal for an energetic, animated setting.
All bases and legs have integrated protective floor guards beneath; rubberised pads that help to keep scuffs and scrapes at bay, making these tables suitable for all floor types, from wood and tile to carpet and laminate.
