Introducing Our New Vintage Industrial Stools

By Clemency Hitchings, 21st August, 2015

New to Atlantic Shopping for 2015 is our Vintage Industrial Collection. A stunning range of stools, the collection takes inspiration from the warehouse apartments of 1970s Manhattan. With their concrete floors, exposed pipework and redbrick walls, they inspired a style of interior design that has grown in popularity ever since.

This year has seen a huge revival of this look, with interior designers embracing all things industrial. From wood to metal, steel to copper, it’s all about combining contrasting textures and vintage-style pieces for a dramatic look. Unfussy, uncluttered and practical, this look is cheap and easy to replicate in your own home. And, whether you choose to contrast statement pieces with a bright, contemporary interior, or go all out with an entirely factory-inspired look, our striking designs are perfect for lending an authentic industrial edge to any space. Read on for four simple ways to get the look in your own home or jump straight in and shop all industrial stools.

Vintage Industrial Stools

1. Go for a repurposed-style design

The good news is that you don’t have to hunt through antique shops, and spend hundreds, to achieve this look. Lovingly designed pieces like the Pedal, the Hydrant, and the Vintage Tractor Stool (pictured below) authentically replicate vintage designs, while boasting all the great features of contemporary models. With authentic pedal style footrests complete with bicycle chain and a gunmetal finish, the Pedal Stool is full of character. Plus, cleverly incorporated features like a height adjustment screw thread and locking wheel keep it practical. The Vintage Tractor Stool is another statement piece. With a classic Massey Ferguson style tractor seat, it appears to be made of industrial parts - a fantastic talking point for any room! These striking designs are perfect for a vintage-themed bar or restaurant, or use them as accent pieces in more contemporary interiors.

2. Pair wood and metal for true industrial style

To really nail the industrial look, pick a piece that combines contrasting wood and metal textures, with a design inspired by the stools that you’d find in an old factory or warehouse. Hardwearing, practical models like the Vintage Swivel Stool, Trio Stool and Twist Stool (pictured) are perfect for injecting just a hint of warehouse style into your home. Inspired by old factory machinist stools, also known as Drafting Stools, the Swivel Stool features a bold metal antique-frame finish, with a dark wood seat and backrest for an organic edge. With a screw thread for adjustable height and handy circular footrest, it’s incredibly practical too. For a rustic twist on a classic four-legged design, the commercial height Trio Stool is a great choice. Seat supports and bracing bars crafted from rustic looking metal contrasts a solid mango wood frame, perfect for traditional, contemporary and industrial interiors alike.

3. Pick a classic vintage-style piece for a softer look

Of course, you may want to go for a subtler piece. Our range of fixed-height models based on classic designs offer a softer look, combining different materials for a textured style. The fabulous Freedom Stool is available with either a solid mango wood seat, or a wooden seat clad with genuine copper. The Freedom Wooden Stool has a gorgeous natural patina that subtly contrasts the dark steel frame, whilst the Freedom Zinc Top will add a cool metallic feel to any space. Or, the Freedom Copper Top has a beautifully warm look that’s perfect for softening an industrial interior. (October 2017 - Please note, the Freedom has now been discontinued and replaced by the Bloc Stool.)

4. Choose an edgy vintage-style design

For those looking for something a little different, we have three final vintage-style designs- the Industrial Turner Stool, Bucket Stool and Vintage Revolution Stool. Ideally suited to those who want a little more support, the super-stylish Bucket Stool boasts an encompassing chair-style seat, upholstered in antique brown faux leather with a zig-zag stitched edge. Alternatively, the Industrial Turner Stool and Vintage Revolution Stool are both adjustable models with antiqued metal frames, screw-thread mechanisms and solid wooden seats.
