BAR FURNITURE
When thinking about creating a breakfast bar or cocktail bar in the home, there are several vital decisions to undertake, the most important being what kind of bar furniture to use.
If you already have a kitchen worktop or an island counter, you may simply want to use a portion as the bar area, providing a uniform look that ties in beautifully with the surrounding decor and funriture. If you do not have such an area however, there is always an option available that works just as well. The range of bar tables available on the market is mind boggling, with several materials on choice. Glass is ever popular, coming in multiple varieties, with opaque black glass and clear glass being the most popular. There is also smoked glass, with a translucent grey finish and sparkle glass; black with a crystalline finish that catches and plays with light. All of these items are fashioned from toughened glass for strength and can be easily wiped clean should anything be spilled on it. Besides glass, you can find faux leather topped tables and hard wearing ABS resin moulded items that are injected with colour for a dash of style. Wood gives a natural touch and can be found in natural oak and walnut, as well as minimalist satin finishes.
Beside from the top material, you can also decide between polished mirrored chrome framework and brushed stainless steel, each giving their own touch of class to the look of your bar funiture. It is also important to note that some styles come in two heights – bar table height and poseur table height, the second of which is taller at around 100cm and is designed to be stood at or used with commercial height stools.
The most popular type of bar furniture is bar stools. These are usually the perfect accompaniment and transform any kitchen into a dynamic, vibrant hub where people congregate. They also come in a multitude of shapes and forms, with seat designs ranging from the traditional to the contemporary in a plethora of materials from luxuriant faux leather and real leather through to acrylic Perspex that adds a modern twist.Again you can find chrome and brushed steel, but several designs have black chrome or gunmetal frames, or even satin finish frame. Usually crafted from steel for strength, there are four legged and Z-frame fixed height stools, box frame and gas lift stools. The latter have an integrated hydraulic mechanism that provides variable height and 360 degree swivel, allowing easier access and letting you tailor the stools for each occupant. There are also low stools and bar chairs available on the market, superb placed at either a bar counter or even dining table. They have large, accommodating seats often with high backs and armrests, with copious amounts of padding adding to the visual impact.
To turn even more heads with your bar funiture, funky chairs give a large slice of character, with retro designs that add fashionable chic and make a striking focal point to any location.
