ADJUSTABLE HEIGHT BAR STOOLS
Adjustable Height Bar stools make up the majority of stools sold, and with good reason; having an adjustable stool offers superb practicality over fixed height stools that makes them a proposition that is hard to ignore. The adjustability is provided by the simple yet effective gas lift mechanism, which is the same in almost every stool you will encounter; a two part hydraulic mechanism with an inner cylinder and larger outer cylinder that can extend and contract with fluid ease.
The gas lift is designed to refill with air, meaning it never needs topping up, and is activated by a small button at the top of the smaller end. This button is pressed down by the activation lever usually found beneath the seat of the stool, and opens a valve that allows the air to flow in and out. When loaded, say with somebody sat on the stool, the air is forced out by the weight acting on the seat, and the cylinder contracts lowering the stool. Vice versa, when there is no weight on the stool and the button is pressed, the cylinders fill with air, expand and thus raise the seat. When not being pressed, the gas lift locks in place at whatever height it has been set at. This is ideal, allowing you to vary the height to suit your needs.
Another advantage of the gas lift adjustable stool is that, due to the way it is connected to the seat in the framework of the stool, the seat can pivot around the top and therefore spin through 360 degrees. This makes access to any bar table or bar counter all the easier, as the seat can be turned to face you so you can get on and off more easily.
These features make the stool all the more practical; it is ideal for children as the seat can be raised so they are at a comfortable seating position, and is even useful for taller people, who can lower the seat for the same reasons. It is also particularly useful if you wish to use bar stools at different locations in the home, especially the same design. The stool can be tailored to the height required, ensuring that you are comfortable wherever you are sat.
