Wood Finishing Your CarvingsThere are numerous ways of wood finishing and different types of finishes. Throughout our wood finishing pages we outline some suggest ways and finishes. Methods of wood finishing used, are wood stains, paint, gold and waxes. The type of wood finishing recommended is partly decided by the type of wood that it is carved from. For example wood finishes used on hard wood may be different than the wood finishing you would use on soft wood. Please treat these methods as rough guide, as we are not responsible for any mistakes!!

How To Fix your Wood CarvingsOnce you have followed the wood finishing advice please follow the steps below fixing. The most common way is to use a "Mirror Clip". (Please treat this only as a rough guide).
1) Drill a large hole in the back of the wood carvings then position the clip over the hole. 2) Screw the Mirror Clip to the wood carving. 3) Drill a hole in the wall / panel to line up where you wish the carving to be positioned. 4) Apply the appropriate fixing method, such as raw plug, dry wall fixing etc... 5) Screw in an appropriate screw - where the screw head fits into the large whole of the mirror clip, but does not come out of the smaller hole - and slide the carving on. (Depending on the size of the carving / corbel a number of the Mirror Clips may have to be used.) 6) You can also use a "Grip Fill" adhesive to aid the mirror clip - (If you want it to be permanent). Remember stick to plaster rather than to paint - sticking to paint only makes the adhesive as strong as the paint!
